Energy Ministry discusses energy sector priorities with USAID Director for Energy Transitions

The priorities for the energy sector in the coming year were discussed by the leadership of the Ministry of Energy with the Director of the Office of Transition Initiatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Brittany Brown.
So while last year's top priority was natural gas supply, in the coming period investments in the stability of the electricity grid will be essential to integrate as much renewable energy as possible and be prepared for possible national blackouts.
Part of the US Government's $300 million in aid will be allocated for the construction of interconnection lines, such as a new interconnection with Romania - Iasi-Ungheni-Strășeni or the connecting line between two high-voltage lines running to the Moldovan Thermoelectric Power Plant (MGRES) - 400 kV Vulcănești - MGRES and 330 kV Vulcănești-Chișinău.
"These interconnections are not only technical issues, but it's about grid stability, predictability, so that the grid is stable and we can synchronize with Romania in case Ukraine goes into blackout," said Energy Minister Victor Parlicov.
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov thanked USAID for its support for sector development, including through the Moldova Energy Security Project (MESA), which includes expertise for the ministry, key enterprises, helps develop strategies on energy, decarbonization and climate and others.
