From Today, Applications Can Be Submitted for the 170 MW Wind Power Plant Tender

Interested investors can submit their applications starting today for the tender to construct wind power plants with a total capacity of 170 MW, with the obligation to install energy storage systems totaling 44 MWh.

The tender was officially launched through publication in the Official Gazette and on the Ministry of Energy’s website, marking a first for the Republic of Moldova by including the energy storage component. This will contribute to increased flexibility and reliability of the national power system, as well as optimization of the electricity generation curve.

Applications can be submitted from February 19 until March 31, inclusive.

The award criterion is the lowest price, measured against the ceiling price of 1.44 Moldovan lei/kWh, within the cumulative capacity limit of 170 MW. Selected projects will be implemented under the “fixed price / variable premium” support scheme.

The implementation of this tender will increase the share of energy from renewable sources by 5.8%, supporting the national target of 30% renewable energy by 2030. Together with the first 165 MW tender, wind energy will account for approximately 11.4% of this target.

It is estimated that the new investments will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 1.4 million tons of CO₂, equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 310,000 passenger vehicles.

Applications should be submitted via email to: wind.auctions@energie.gov.md.
