Energy security, decarbonization of energy-intensive sectors and development of renewables discussed in Oslo by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov

Ensuring energy security, but also decarbonization of the buildings and transport sectors were the main topics addressed by the delegation led by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov in Norway.
The delegation includes Ina Coșeru, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Environment, Climate and Green Transition, and Galina Rusu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Research.
The Government of Norway has allocated, through the NANSEN Support Program for Ukraine, financial support in the form of a grant to the Republic of Moldova (EUR 35.0 million), including in the energy sector, in order to mitigate the social and economic impact caused by the war in the neighboring country. The grant will supplement Energocom funds for the purchase and storage of natural gas stocks. Norway also contributed more than €12 million to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund last year.
The parties discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the framework of the NANSEN Programme, support in the creation and capitalization of the Energy Efficiency Fund in the residential sector, support for adapting energy efficiency monitoring methodologies to those applied in EU countries, as well as the conduct of a geological study to investigate the geothermal energy potential in the Republic of Moldova, using Norway's extensive experience in this field.
The meetings with representatives of Norwegian energy companies also discussed investment opportunities in the Republic of Moldova and plans for integration into the European energy market.
The Moldovan delegation had meetings in Oslo on Tuesday with Eivind Vad Petersson, State Secretary of the MFA, Astrid Bergmal, State Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, Raghnild Sjoner Syrstad, State Secretary for Climate, Bard Vegar Solhjell, Director General of the Norwegian Agency for International Development (NORAD), officials from the Ministry of Trade and representatives of the private sector.
