Operational Situation in the Electricity Sector as of 05 February 2026 in Connection with Adverse Weather Conditions

On 5 February 2026, as a result of adverse weather conditions, disruptions were recorded in the operation of electricity distribution networks in certain areas of the Republic of Moldova.
The state-owned enterprise Moldelectrica reported that between 00:00 and 06:00 on 05.02.2026 no incidents or outages were registered in the electricity transmission network.
The distribution system operator Premier Energy Distribution reported that as of 06:00 a total of 1,222 consumers were affected in two districts of the Republic of Moldova due to difficult weather conditions.
To remedy the situation, 17 intervention teams were deployed, each consisting of 2–5 people, depending on the type of work required (installers, construction workers, and other specialists).
According to operational information, the most affected areas were:
Criuleni District – the villages of Bălțata and Vlăduleni, with 401 consumers affected;
Ialoveni District – the village of Ulmu, with 821 consumers affected.
In total, 3 localities were affected, with a cumulative number of 1,409 disconnected consumers.
At the same time, RED-Nord reported unplanned power outages affecting a total of 2,766 consumers in three districts in the northern part of the country.
The situation by district is as follows:
Sângerei District – the localities of Prepelița and Pepeni, with 6 consumers affected;
Edineț District – the town of Cupcini and the localities of Brătusanii-Noi, Galinovca, Chișmigia-Nouă, Brătusani, Brătusani Vechi, and Sofrîncani, with 2,247 consumers affected;
Drochia District – the village of Ochiul Alb, with 513 consumers affected.
In total, 10 localities in the northern zone were affected, with 2,766 consumers disconnected.
Intervention and power restoration works are ongoing, and distribution operators are continuously monitoring the situation in the field.
