The Republic of Moldova is interested in Lithuania's experience in increasing grid-integrated renewable energy capacities, including the development of biogas and hydrogen power plants and technologies. It was one of the topics discussed by State Secretary in charge of decarbonization Carolina Novac in Vilnius with Deputy Energy Minister Daiva Garbaliauskaitė.

Lithuania aims to convert the excess green energy it produces into hydrogen by 2050, which would be used both for its own needs and for export.

Carolina Novac also discussed with her Lithuanian counterparts the experience of implementing energy efficiency projects, a measure which is one of the priorities of the Moldovan government and a necessary objective for the country's energy security.

This year, installed renewable energy capacity in Lithuania has more than tripled and now exceeds 2 GW. For comparison, the installed capacity in the Republic of Moldova in July was about 260 MW.
