Chișinău, October 23, 2025 – Carolina Novac, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy, participated today in the award ceremony of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW 2025), held under the theme “Strengthening a Fair and Competitive Green Transition.”

The event brought together representatives from the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Environment, GIZ Moldova, local public authorities, and development partners committed to promoting sustainable energy and reducing carbon emissions.

During the ceremony, Carolina Novac emphasized the importance of collaboration between state institutions, the private sector, and civil society to accelerate the energy transition, highlighting the progress Moldova has made in this area.

“The Republic of Moldova has achieved remarkable progress in recent years. Installed capacity from renewable sources has reached 858.5 MW – a historic record for our country. Programs such as EcoVoucher, Green House, and energy rehabilitation projects for public and residential buildings demonstrate our commitment to building a sustainable future. The energy transition is not only a technical objective but also a change of mindset. It is a collective effort that requires the involvement of every citizen, local authorities, the business community, and our international partners,” stated Carolina Novac.

Moldova’s participation in EUSEW 2025 reaffirms the country’s commitment to actively contributing to European sustainable energy goals and promoting fair development at the local level.

As part of the initiative, 20 municipalities signatories of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy carried out actions dedicated to the green transition, involving over 10,000 citizens – children, youth, teachers, and representatives of local public administrations.

Additionally, 60 partner institutions supported awareness-raising activities, and over 3,900 eco-friendly materials were distributed in communities to promote sustainable behaviors.

In recognition of their efforts, 19 municipalities were awarded Certificates of Excellence, while 6 localities received value-based certificates for developing green projects, such as tree planting, installing LED lighting, or acquiring bicycles.
