State Secretary Vitalie Mîța Discussed Energy Sector Cooperation and Energy Efficiency Priorities with Expertise France

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Vitalie Mîța, held a meeting with the Director General of Expertise France, Jérémie Pellet. The discussions were attended by representatives of Expertise France and the French Development Agency (AFD), including Mathieu Vasseur, Eloïse Brugallé, Louise Poudret Hardy, Maxime Lebovics, Valérie Anne Lencznar, as well as Călin Negură.
During the discussions, the parties exchanged views on the evolution of Expertise France’s support to the Republic of Moldova in the energy sector, analyzing the results achieved so far and their impact on the reform and modernization process in the field.
At the same time, the need to adjust technical assistance in line with the current priorities of the Ministry of Energy was addressed, with emphasis on strengthening institutional capacities and improving the efficiency of ongoing project implementation.
The discussions also covered the situation in the energy sector in the context of recent challenges, including the importance of ensuring energy security and continuity of energy supply, as well as inter-institutional and regional coordination in crisis management.
Another important topic was energy efficiency, with the parties highlighting the need to reduce energy consumption and network losses, as well as the importance of modernizing public and residential buildings, a sector that accounts for a significant share of final energy consumption.
It was also reiterated that the support provided by Expertise France plays an important role in strengthening the technical and institutional capacities of the Republic of Moldova and in advancing reforms in the energy sector.
Active in the Republic of Moldova since 2022, the AFD Group has been tasked with supporting the country in aligning with European Union standards and implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change, toward a path of inclusive and low-carbon growth. Since then, the AFD Group has committed €230 million in Moldova through several active projects in the energy, transport, environmental protection, and forest management sectors.
