Energy Minister Victor Parlicov met with Philippe Orliange, Executive Director for Geographies of the French Development Agency (AFD), during his visit to Paris.

Victor Parlicov thanked the French partners for their support to the Republic of Moldova in the green transition process, foreseen in the framework of the 6-year financing program, accompanied by technical assistance.

The parties also discussed further activities, which are conditional on accessing funding for the current year. In 2023, the program came with a first tranche of financial assistance in the amount of 40 million euro as budget support.

The Minister of Energy reiterated that the assistance from the French Development Agency will help the Republic of Moldova in the process of alignment with European standards, attract new investments in the Republic of Moldova and strengthen the capacities of energy sector institutions.

The Minister welcomed the increased interest of French investors in participating in tenders for the construction of large renewable energy capacities, reiterating that the European partners are making an effort to ensure that the Republic of Moldova has sufficient renewable energy and energy resources at competitive prices for consumers.

Victor Parlicov emphasized that every effort is being made so that Moldovan citizens feel the real benefits of integration into the European area, as well as the support of development partners for the comfort of citizens and reduction of energy bills.

In September there will be a new meeting of the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova, created on the initiative of France, Romania and Germany. In this context, Victor Parlicov expressed his confidence that new energy projects will enjoy the support of French partners.
