Working Meeting between the Ministry of Energy and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

Cristina Pereteatcu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, held a working meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), aimed at strengthening institutional dialogue and identifying future areas of cooperation in the field of thermal energy and cogeneration.
The EBRD delegation included Pavle Djuric, Associate Director, Anar Aliyev, Principal Counsel, and Andrei Mazur, Associate within the Policy, Regional Policy and Strategy Team. The Ministry of Energy was represented by officials from the Thermal Energy and Cogeneration Directorate.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the provisions of the applicable legal framework, as well as technical and institutional aspects related to the development of the thermal energy sector, the modernization of existing infrastructure, and the promotion of efficient cogeneration solutions. The potential involvement of the EBRD in future projects was also discussed, with an emphasis on sustainability, energy efficiency, and alignment with European policies in the field.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy emphasized the importance of cooperation with international partners for the implementation of sectoral reforms and the attraction of investments needed to modernize thermal energy production and supply systems. In turn, EBRD representatives reaffirmed their openness to continuing the dialogue and exploring opportunities for financial and technical support.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both parties to strengthening institutional cooperation and identifying viable solutions for the sustainable development of the energy sector in the Republic of Moldova.
