Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu Discusses Energy Security with Energy Community Secretariat Director Artur Lorkowski

Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu held a meeting with Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, who was in Chișinău on the occasion of the Gas Forum dedicated to market liberalization.
The discussions primarily focused on preparations for the upcoming period after the heating season, in the context of increasing challenges to electricity supply security. Officials analyzed the risks posed by the fragile state of Ukraine’s energy system, affected by Russian bombardments, as well as current limitations in cross-border transfer capacity (NTC). The accelerated integration of renewable energy sources into the system was also addressed, which requires additional balancing and flexibility measures.
Another key topic of the meeting was ensuring the security of natural gas supply in the Republic of Moldova, including the Transnistrian region. In this regard, the parties discussed the role and support provided by the Energy Community Secretariat in strengthening the regulatory framework and implementing the necessary reforms for a competitive and transparent market.
Minister Dorin Junghietu emphasized the importance of close cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat in aligning with the European acquis and in strengthening the resilience of the national energy sector.
In turn, Artur Lorkowski reaffirmed the Secretariat’s readiness to continue providing technical assistance and expertise to support reforms in Moldova’s energy sector, particularly in the context of gas market liberalization and enhancing energy security.
