The Tender Commission for granting large eligible producer status (2025–2026), established by Government Decision No. 176/2025, convened to open applications and assess the eligibility of investors.
A total of 16 bids were submitted during the procedure—twice as many as in the similar auction held in 2024–2025—highlighting the strong interest of investors in the development of renewable energy in the Republic of Moldova.
The total capacity proposed by investors reaches 423.85 MW, while the energy storage capacity amounts to 305.29 MWh—figures that significantly exceed the parameters put up for auction.
The auction targets the construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 170 MW and, for the first time, includes a requirement to install energy storage systems totaling 44 MWh. The introduction of this component marks an important step toward strengthening energy security and increasing the flexibility of the national energy system.
The Commission’s meeting took place in the presence of observers from civil society and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, ensuring the transparency of the process.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 64 of the Regulation approved by Government Decision No. 690/2018, the Commission decided to temporarily suspend the meeting in order to request additional information necessary for the evaluation of the bids.
The examination of applications will resume after receiving the responses, and investors will be informed in advance about the date, time, and location of the continuation of the procedure.
