3% of public institutions will be made energy-efficient annually under the Government-approved Program on renovation of public administration buildings

The Government will invest 90 million euro over the next three years in the renovation and energy efficiency of 3% of public institutions in Moldova. In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers approved, at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, the Program on the renovation of buildings of specialized central public administration authorities for 2024-2026. The purpose of this Program is to ensure the energy efficiency of public buildings and to meet the energy performance requirements established by law.
The document sets out the list of buildings to be rehabilitated, the energy efficiency measures to be implemented and the related costs. In total, more than 106 thousand m2 of public buildings will be renovated and made energy efficient, which will result in savings of around €3 million per year.
The implementation of the Program will also contribute to strengthening and enhancing the country's energy security by increasing energy efficiency, sustainable development, saving primary energy resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The program will be financed by the Government, with the support of development partners, under the project "Energy Efficiency in the Republic of Moldova" co-financed by the European Union, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, and partly from the funds allocated under the project "Green Energy Production and Energy Efficiency", financed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and partly from the funds allocated under the project "Green Energy Production and Energy Efficiency".
