Construction site of the Vulcănești-Chișinău Power Line expands into Cimișlia

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan, visited today the construction site of the Vulcănești-Chișinău Power Line, which has expanded today into the area of the Cenac locality, Cimișlia district. After supplementing the workforce and with the improvement of weather conditions, excavation work for the foundation pits for the pylons has been extended to a new construction site. Next week, a new team of specialists from Turkey is expected to arrive to start work in new locations.
Constantin Borosan inquired about the progress of the works and any potential needs of the construction company to maintain the pace of the power line construction and complete it within the set deadlines. The official emphasized the strategic importance of the Vulcănești-Chișinău Power Line for ensuring the country’s energy security, urging the company’s representatives to maintain the pace of work, and to intensify efforts as the weather improves.
At this stage, approximately 22% of the construction/installation works have been completed. The construction site is expanding into UTA Gagauzia, and the Leova, Cahul (Borceag), Taraclia, and Cimișlia districts. Access has been granted in the Hîncești and Vulcănești districts of UTA Gagauzia. Meanwhile, the overall progress of implementation, including design, supply, construction, and installation, is around 50%.
Construction work officially began in April 2024, following the development and approval of the technical project and the completion of preliminary conditions. The works are ongoing in UTA Gagauzia, Leova, Cahul, and Taraclia districts. The materials and components required for the construction of the Power Line have been produced and delivered in a volume of 90%.
The construction work on the power line is being carried out by the company KEC International Limited, while the works at the Chișinău Electric Station are being performed by the consortium Siemens Energy SRL - Electromontaj SA - Energotech SA, and at the Vulcănești Electric Station by the consortium Celin SRL and Energobit SA.
