The government approved today the new Regulation regarding the calculation of energy consumption from renewable sources, ensuring the full transposition of the EU Directive on the promotion of energy from renewable sources, known as RED II, into national legislation.
The goal of the regulation is to develop and implement a transparent, clear, and standardized mechanism for calculating energy consumption from renewable sources and determining its share in the gross final energy consumption, to be applied until the end of 2050. This mechanism will allow annual monitoring and reporting in compliance with European requirements, regarding the achievement of the national target of 27% renewable energy in the energy mix by 2030, and others that will be established later.
“The approved regulation will provide the opportunity to measure real progress at the national level regarding the increase in the share of renewable energy in the overall national energy mix. At the same time, it will allow the assessment of the advantages and areas that require intervention to promote each type of renewable energy,” said the Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu.
The calculation of renewable energy in the energy mix will be carried out by the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED) in the first half of the year for the previous year. Energy suppliers will also be required to provide detailed information to final consumers about the energy supplied, including data regarding the tariff package for services, details about the structure of the electricity they provide within the tariff package, details about the consumption recorded by the final consumer, the shares of individual energy sources in the total electricity supplied by the supplier to all of its final customers, as well as a link to the CNED’s website for the previous calendar year’s report.
The document also includes the repeal of a previous Government Decision, which partially covered the subject through the transport sector component.
