In view of the unfavorable weather forecast for the coming period, the Ministry of Energy will request system operators to take the necessary measures to ensure the continuity of the public electricity supply and to guarantee prompt intervention in case of emergencies. Mobile rapid response teams will be prepared to intervene, if necessary, on critical segments to maintain the functionality of public institutions and communities, including in the event of power outages or failures.

According to the forecasts of the State Hydrometeorological Service, from January 30 to February 2, 2026, adverse weather conditions are expected across the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova, with predominantly cloudy skies, light precipitation in the form of rain, sleet, and snow, as well as an increased risk of ice and black ice formation on roads. Air temperatures will gradually decrease, with values dropping below zero even during the daytime, and from January 31 to February 2, nighttime lows will fall significantly, which may worsen traffic conditions, reduce visibility, and increase risks for the population.

As a result, the National Crisis Management Center (CNMC) convened responsible institutions today and has decided on a series of national-level measures and issued recommendations for citizens, local public authorities, and the business community.

Important Recommendations for the Public:

  • If you notice an incident on the electricity network (fallen or dangerously hanging power lines), do not approach or touch the electrical cables.

  • For rapid intervention, immediately contact the distribution operator in your area:

    • Center – South: ÎCS “Premier Energy Distribution” SA

    • North: SA “RED-Nord”

  • In emergency situations, call 112.

The Ministry of Energy urges citizens to follow safety recommendations and exercise increased caution during periods of adverse weather conditions.
