The State Secretary responsible for digitalization, Cristina Pereteatcu, recently participated in an event dedicated to modern solutions for electricity distribution networks, which brought together international experts, representatives of public authorities, and business leaders from the Republic of Moldova.

The event aimed to showcase the latest technologies for digitalizing and automating power grids, essential components for transforming the energy system into a modern and efficient one.

During the meeting, participants discussed the role of digitalization in improving operational efficiency, integrating renewable energy sources, and developing networks capable of meeting consumer demands. Innovative solutions for medium-voltage smart grids were also presented, designed to enhance the safety and reliability of the energy system.

State Secretary Cristina Pereteatcu emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in accelerating the modernization of the national energy infrastructure.

“Modernizing the energy system is no longer an option — it is a necessity. We need smarter, more efficient, and more resilient networks — capable of integrating renewable sources, responding quickly to consumer needs, and ensuring energy supply security,” highlighted Cristina Pereteatcu.

The State Secretary reiterated during the discussions that Moldova’s energy sector continues to face significant challenges: a fragmented and technologically outdated digital infrastructure, a lack of interoperability between the digital platforms of operators and regulatory institutions, as well as insufficient communications infrastructure for the development of smart grids.

“These goals cannot be achieved by one actor alone — neither by the state nor the private sector. They require trust, collaboration, and a shared vision for the future of energy in Moldova. Events like this show that we know how to build together — bringing technological knowledge, practical experience, and the will to create positive change to the same table,” added Cristina Pereteatcu.

In the context of the European Union’s Action Plan for the Digitalization of the Energy System, the Republic of Moldova is strengthening its efforts to align its national digital infrastructure with European standards by developing smart and interoperable electricity networks.

“The digitalization and automation of power grids are key to transforming our energy system into one that is competitive and aligned with European standards. Cooperation with international partners demonstrates that Moldova is an open and ambitious actor, ready to learn from the best practices,” concluded Cristina Pereteatcu.

The event took place in a professional and interactive setting, offering participants the opportunity to explore cutting-edge solutions for the digitalization of energy distribution, attend technical presentations by international experts, and exchange experiences with industry professionals.

The meeting was organized by Habsev GRUP SRL, a company specializing in reliable and efficient electrical equipment, in partnership with the Spanish company Ormazabal, one of the global leaders in medium-voltage smart grid technologies.
