JSC Energocom has extended the power purchase contract with the Moldovan Thermoelectric Power Plant in the Transnistrian Region (MGRES) until the end of 2024

The cost of energy remains the same as during the last months, constituting 66 USD/MWh.

According to the schedule agreed by the parties, in November MGRES will deliver to the right bank of the Nistru river about 257 thousand MWh, which is more than 90% of the demand, excluding the Chisinau and Balti thermal power plants and renewable energy sources. During peak hours, when needed, additional volumes of electricity will be contracted from producers in Ukraine and Romania, as well as from the Romanian OPCOM exchange.

In the winter months, with the start-up of the CETs that also produce electricity, the volume of electricity purchased from MGRES will decrease to 230-250 thousand MWh, which will account for about 65% of the needs of the right bank of the Nistru River.

The contract with MGRES allows consumers on the right bank of the Dniester to have affordable tariffs compared to other countries in the region.
