The Ministry of Energy will support investments in biogas plants, which produce reliable and continuous sources of energy, said State Secretary Constantin Borosan, who visited the Rom-Cris enterprise in Tarnova, Dondușeni, on Friday.

The company has a biogas plant with 630 kW installed capacity, which processes all the waste from the poultry factory it owns, plus animal waste from another poultry factory and sugar beet waste brought to the fermenter from other localities. It is among the first biogas plants in the country.

Tudor Sârbu, the company's founder, said the idea of investing in biogas-based renewable energy came to him when he saw biogas technologies in Germany and Austria. He has many ideas to expand the project but, he says, the tariff set by ANRE for the energy he produces would not motivate him.

The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Energy, on the other hand, encouraged him, saying that the Ministry wants a boost on the biogas side, where investments are more substantial than wind farms and where there are also expenses for dedicated employees, not to mention the environmental benefits. At the same time, biogas power plants deliver the same amount of energy consistently, unlike solar and wind energy sources. Support solutions are now being sought. In addition, Moldovan entrepreneurs will go on study visits to European countries in order to learn best practices in the field, Constantin Borosan added.
