On a visit to Copenhagen, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov met with representatives of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the Foreign Affairs, Defense, Climate, Trade and other committees representing all factions of the Danish Parliament, as well as the business community in the country.

The Minister of Energy expressed his interest in intensifying cooperation with the Kingdom of Denmark in the field of renewable energy as well as waste management, in particular the conversion of waste into electricity and heat, where Denmark is a leader.

Denmark's experience in integrating renewable energy sources in buildings and in the centralized heat supply system as well as the implementation of energy efficiency measures in the public and residential sectors are two other priority areas for the Republic of Moldova. Here Denmark's experience is equally advanced and welcome, in the context of the launch of the Residential Energy Efficiency Fund and the plans for energy rehabilitation of public buildings in line with the recently approved legislation on energy performance of buildings.

Specific development support and decarbonization projects to be implemented through the United Nations Development Programme were also discussed, as well as cooperation opportunities with Danish business, during the meeting with members of the Chamber of Commerce, global leaders in green energy.

The Moldovan delegation announced that it is in the process of preparing investment packages in the energy sector aimed at the construction of new interconnection lines with the European energy system, as well as large-capacity renewable power plants, including biogas-based, for which tenders will be launched soon. Other investment opportunities concern energy efficiency in utilities and public service providers (street lighting, water supply, other public services), energy efficiency in public buildings, and the development of a biofuels market in Moldova;

The interest in expanding cooperation with the Republic of Moldova was confirmed by the intention of the Kingdom of Denmark to open an embassy in Chisinau.
