Almost half of the projects that have been submitted through the European Village II Program are related to street lighting, the installation of photovoltaic power plants, as well as improving the energy efficiency of several buildings.

Out of 612 projects, 198 applications were submitted to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings and historical monuments. Beneficiaries include the pre-school institution ,,Lăcrimioara,,, in the village. Vărvăreuca, Florești rayon, the nursery kindergarten in the town of Vatra in the Chisinau municipality, the kindergarten for children in the village. Tețcani, Briceni district and others.

57 applications were selected for the installation of street lighting. Thus, 455 km of street lighting network are to be built in the villages of Tuzura in Călărași district, the village of Climăuții de Jos, Șoldănești district, the localities of Tănătarii Noi and Ursoaia Nouă, Căușeni district, and others, which will benefit over 104 thousand inhabitants.

For the installation of systems for the production and supply of energy from renewable resources, 30 projects with a total capacity of 3 MW were selected. Thus follows the construction and installation of a photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 25kW at the artesian well in the village of Dușmani, Glodeni rayon, the installation of systems for the production and supply of electricity using renewable energy resources in the village of Susleni, Orhei Centru district. Increasing energy independence by building a 33 kW photovoltaic power plant to supply the artesian well in the village of Carabetovca, South Basarabeasca district.

The Ministry of Energy encourages prioritizing energy efficiency in the "European Village" program.

"These projects will have beneficial effects not only for the comfort and better living of citizens, but will also strengthen energy security," said the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Carolina Novac.

It is worth mentioning that currently there are installed renewable energy production capacities of 129 MW by prosumers, 98.9 MW under the fixed tariff guarantee mechanism (141 MW confirmed) and about 124 MW on the free market.

Recently, the Parliament voted in final reading a draft law that brings a number of benefits to green energy producers in the Republic of Moldova for the installation and use of renewable energy sources.

First of all, it is about facilitating the functioning of local energy communities, in that the electricity produced in a given location will be able to be consumed by members of the community at several consumption points. These provisions will also apply to prosumers benefiting from the net metering mechanism, including Irrigation Associations, farmers who will be able to install panels and power multiple different points of consumption, as well as machines located in different locations - refrigerators, irrigation pumps, offices, etc. These changes will also benefit local public authorities, which can install photovoltaic panels and power multiple public buildings - street lighting, kindergarten, school, medical center, town hall, etc. Energy communities will also include condominium co-owners associations, Local Action Groups, Intercommunity Development Associations.
