INDICATIVE TIMETABLE ON THE NEXT STEPS FOR THE ORGANISATION OF THE FIRST TENDERS FOR THE PROVISION OF LARGE ELIGIBLE WIND AND SOLAR PRODUCER STATUS

INDICATIVE TIMETABLE calendar ON THE NEXT STEPS FOR THE ORGANISATION OF THE FIRST TENDERS for the provision of large eligible wind and solar producer status

In accordance with the provisions outlined in articles 10(e) and 10(g) of Law No. 10/2016 on the promotion of the use of renewable energy, and pursuant to Government Decision No. 401/2021 approving capacity limits, maximum quotas, and capacity categories in the field of electricity from renewable sources, valid until December 31, 2025, the Ministry of Energy has formulated an indicative schedule for the anticipated frequency of tender rounds for the provision of large eligible producer status for the period 2024–2025.

The process of organising the first tendering procedure for the provision of a large eligible producer status was launched in 2024.

Through streamlined and less bureaucratic participation criteria, the winners of the tender will receive a guaranteed fixed price for the electricity they produce over a period of 15 years. This guaranteed fixed price, established during the tender process, cannot exceed the ceiling price of 1.5 lei/kWh for wind energy and 1.67 lei/kWh for solar energy, as set by the National Agency for Energy Regulation.

It is anticipated that approximately 190 million euros will be invested in the next three years (the period available to the winning producers) for the construction of 105 MW of wind farms and 60 MW of photovoltaic plants through this tender.

Following the activation of the power plants awarded through the tender process, the proportion of electricity derived from renewable sources will rise from 10% (end of 2023) to 16.6%, playing a significant role in fulfilling the country's objective of achieving a 30% share of renewable electricity in overall consumption by 2030.
