Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu inspected the Chișinău Power Station today in the context of ongoing modernization works on Moldova’s critical energy infrastructure.
At the station, the four single-phase units of the power autotransformer are currently being installed.
“It is crucial that the workforce is fully mobilized to complete this project as quickly as possible. This infrastructure will enable the direct transfer of electricity to the largest consumption hub in the country – the municipality of Chișinău,” Minister Dorin Junghietu emphasized during discussions with representatives of the contracted companies.
Work continues at a steady pace both at the Chișinău Power Station and along the 400 kV Energy Independence Line Vulcănești–Chișinău, which will strengthen Moldova’s connection to the European electricity market.
Construction of the Energy Independence Line is progressing, with over 80% of pylons already installed. More than 500 foundations have been completed, representing 99% of the total, 456 pylons have been assembled, of which 407 have been installed along the line. Conductors have been installed over 85 km of the route.
In parallel, at the Vulcănești Power Station, work continues on concreting foundations for equipment.
The works are being carried out by the consortium Siemens Energy SRL, Electromontaj S.A., and Energotech S.A. from Romania, as part of a project implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the Ministry of Energy and the Unified Implementation Unit for Energy Projects (UCIPE), with the support of the World Bank.
The final beneficiary is Moldelectrica, the national electricity system operator, along with all electricity consumers in Moldova, who will benefit from a safe and efficient energy infrastructure.
