On March 18, 2024, the meeting of the Sectoral Council in the field of external assistance to the energy sector was held, during which progress and obstacles in the implementation of external assistance projects in this field were discussed.

The main topics discussed were updates related to the activities of the Ministry of Energy in the European integration process. It was emphasized the adoption of the National Action Plan for Moldova's accession to the European Union (2024-2027) and the implementation of 19 actions for 2024 out of a total of 26 actions set for 2024-2027. It also reconfirmed the commitment to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector through the EU-Moldova High Level Energy Dialogue.

The Ministry of Energy identified priority needs for the next period, including the elaboration of a study on the installation of individual metering equipment, the promotion of energy audits among SMEs and the implementation of energy efficiency measures, the development of heat storage in district heating systems, the operationalization of renewable energy communities and the inventory of gas networks owned by individuals.

 Donors had the opportunity to present their vision and support for the Ministry of Energy in the context of European integration and discussed collaboration in the implementation of external assistance projects. All these issues reflect ongoing efforts to bring the energy sector of the Republic of Moldova in line with European standards and to ensure efficient and sustainable management of energy resources.
