The Ministry of Energy in partnership with the Department of Energy of the United States of America is organizing for four days in Chisinau the "Summit on Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Cyber Security (CIICS)".

This training is supported by a panel of US experts and focuses exclusively on critical infrastructure security in the energy sector, with four distinct modules. Present at the event, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Energy, Cristina Pereteatcu, thanked the foreign partners for their support to our country in combating the cyber-attacks that have been on the rise lately.

"The SSCIC's objective is to present best practices and current trends in ensuring cyber security and preventing attacks against critical infrastructure, as well as to present technical, practical solutions to counter hybrid risks," Cristina Pereteatcu said.

The workshop provides hands-on, interactive learning scenarios that will enable information technology and security professionals to develop and master in-depth real-time cyber defense skills.

"The training is designed as a challenge competition and is divided into different levels so that they can more quickly implement the techniques we teach them in their daily work," the mentors from the US said. The summit is attended by employees of law enforcement agencies, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), the Ministry of Defense, the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), as well as representatives from the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service (STISC), Termoelectrica, Energocom, CET-Nord, Premier Energy, Moldelectrica, Vestmoldtransgaz and FEE-Nord.

Participants will be trained through a series of theoretical and practical exercises to prevent cyber attacks on critical energy infrastructure. Furthermore, those attending the event are guided through a series of practical exercises that challenge them to defend themselves against cyber-attacks used by several methods by skilled adversaries. Key topics covered and discussed include managing the human resources, processes and technologies required to create and sustain a sustainable OT/ICS cybersecurity risk program OT/ICS while promoting a culture of collaboration and safety, as well as how to report security risks to stakeholders while maintaining the safety and reliability of engineering operations.
