The construction works for the construction of the Balti - Suceava 400 kV overhead power transmission line (O.T.L.) and the extension of the Balti 330 kV substation have been proposed to be declared of public utility of national interest. A decision to this effect was approved today by the Preliminary Investigation Commission for the implementation of the project, chaired by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan. The final decision on declaring the project a public utility of national interest is to be taken by the Legislature.

During the meeting, the members of the Commission, which includes representatives of local public authorities, in whose territorial radius the works will be carried out, analyzed the arguments on the strategic importance of the project for ensuring the energy security of our country.

"The implementation of this project will increase the country's energy security, in particular for the Northern region, boost the development of economic sectors by providing more reliable electricity supply services for the whole country, and will increase the flexibility of the power system, which will allow the integration of additional renewable energy generation capacities", said Constantin Borosan.

The project involves the realization of an overhead power line (OHL) with a rated voltage of 400 kV, with a length of 138 km, of which 90 km on Romanian territory and 48 km on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, crossing the districts of Glodeni, Fălești, Riscani and Balti. The routes have been designed with maximum avoidance of private land, protected areas and residential objects.

The project's completion deadline is set for the fourth quarter of 2027 and its total value is estimated at 77 million euro.
