Constantin Borosan participated in the Special High-Level Session on Methane Mitigation in Central Asia and the Caucasus. The State Secretary presented the vision from the perspective of the Republic of Moldova, which is 100% dependent on imports of fossil resources.

Reducing methane emissions in countries rich in hydrocarbon deposits means not only reducing GHG emissions - methane has a global warming factor 100 times higher than carbon dioxide, but also increasing the export potential of natural gas from these countries and strengthening the energy security of Europe and import-dependent countries.

In the margins of the Forum, Constantin Borosan also had bilateral meetings with UNECE Deputy Executive Secretary Dmitry Mariyasin and Director of the Sustainable Energy Department Dario Liguti. The official thanked for the technical assistance provided to our country last year when with the support of UNECE the "Guidelines for the implementation of energy efficiency measures and the use of renewable energy sources for public sector buildings" was developed.

Currently, with the technical assistance of UNECE and UNDP Moldova, with funding from Germany under the International Climate Initiative (IKI), our country benefits from the regional project for "Improving supply chains in the construction industry to increase the energy performance of buildings".

Constantin Borosan expressed the interest of the Republic of Moldova to participate more actively in the work of UNECE specialized committees in the field of energy, as well as in the framework of the Expert Groups. He also showed his openness to host regional UNECE events in our country. In the last 2.5 years the Republic of Moldova has significantly strengthened its energy security and energy efficiency is the Government's #2 priority. These positive transformations serve as a model of transformation for other UNECE member states.
