The tender for the construction of wind farms with a total capacity of 170 MW, accompanied by the mandatory installation of 44 MWh energy storage systems, was launched today, with the announcement published in the Official Gazette and on the official website of the Ministry of Energy.

This tender marks a first for the Republic of Moldova by including an energy storage component, aimed at increasing the flexibility and reliability of the national power system and enhancing the electricity generation curve.

Potential investors can request clarifications until 1 February 2026, while bids can be submitted between 16 February and 31 March. Additionally, an investors’ conference will be held on 29 January 2026, during which the provisions of the tender documentation and the tender procedure will be discussed.

Winning bids will be those offering the lowest price relative to the ceiling price of 1.44 MDL and not exceeding the cumulative capacity of 170 MW. The wind farms will be constructed under the “fixed price / variable premium” support scheme.

The implementation of these tenders will contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy by 5.8% toward the national target of 30% renewable energy by 2030. Together with the first 165 MW tender, wind energy will cover approximately 11.4% of this target.

It is estimated that these new investments will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 1.4 million tons of CO₂, equivalent to the annual emissions produced by approximately 310,000 cars.
