Victor Parlicov, met the UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova, Daniela Gasparikova
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov met with the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program in Moldova, Daniela Gasparikova, to discuss the Ministry's priorities in the field of green transition and UNDP support in this regard.
The parties discussed ongoing projects, including several pilot projects implemented by the UNDP, which could later be scaled up to the national level. These include the "Household Appliances Rabla" program to replace energy inefficient household appliances and the "Green House" program, which provides energy efficient solutions to the most vulnerable households in partnership with the Energy Efficiency Agency.
UNDP will also continue to support the Government in addressing energy security and energy poverty, including through the expansion of the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund and the development of new options to address energy poverty, based on the results of impact measurement.
Victor Parlicov thanked UNDP for its support, with a particular focus on the energy sector and the green transition. The official said that in addition to compensation in energy and gas bills, it is important to address the causes of energy poverty, including inefficient energy consumption in buildings. Thus, one of the Ministry's priorities is to launch the Residential Energy Efficiency Fund on the basis of the Energy Efficiency Agency.
UNDP and its partners will support the scaling up of existing energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in the residential and public sectors, the private sector and continue to advise local public authorities in the implementation of local energy transition plans.
Another priority is the installation of energy meters for electricity and the testing of time-of-use differentiated tariffs. This will allow consumers to use household appliances at times when energy is cheaper. The UNDP will also support public communication efforts on the benefits of energy efficiency and the use of renewables.
