Energy Minister Victor Parlicov participated in the international specialized exhibition of green technologies and environmental protection "Eco & Green Expo", organized on the occasion of World Environment Day.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized the major contribution of the European Union in everything that means environmental protection responsibilities and promotion of climate goals. Victor Parlicov reiterated that the Republic of Moldova is the most vulnerable country on the whole European continent to climate change, but environmental protection concerns could unite society and promote the European climate agenda.
"The Republic of Moldova has already committed itself, both in the energy and environmental fields, to align itself with European standards in everything related to quality of life and environmental protection. We are advantaged thanks to the support of the European Union, the European space opens its market for our products, but they have to meet certain standards, and in order to benefit from all the advantages of exporting to the largest market, we have to bring environmental standards at home," said Victor Parlicov.
The minister reiterated that this year's UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku will discuss the possibilities and mechanisms of financial support for climate vulnerable countries.
According to the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), the Republic of Moldova has made a series of commitments in the field of energy and climate. The document was developed by the Ministry of Energy, with the support of the European Union, through the program "Addressing the Impact of the Energy Crisis in the Republic of Moldova", implemented by UNDP Moldova. It includes clear targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency.
