Carolina Novac highlighted the importance of involving women in the process of adapting to climate change, given the increased vulnerability of the Republic of Moldova to these phenomena. Moldova faces average annual economic losses of 2.13% of GDP due to frequent droughts and floods, and climate models indicate pronounced aridification, which will affect agricultural productivity, water resources, ecosystems, and threaten the well-being and health of the population.
"Women are encouraged to study and work in STEM fields, thus contributing to innovation and the development of sustainable solutions. At the same time, in accordance with Law No. 74 on climate action, starting in 2027, local public authorities will implement Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs), which will include concrete measures for climate change mitigation and adaptation, thus strengthening the resilience of communities," stated Carolina Novac.
