Schneider Electric's activity plans within the energy sandbox were discussed during a meeting with the Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, and the State Secretary, Cristina Pereteatcu. The meeting with Ionuț Farcaș, President of the Central and Eastern Europe Zone at Schneider Electric Romania SRL, took place in the context of the cooperation memorandum signed at the Innovation Summit Paris 2024 between the Ministry of Energy and Schneider Electric.

The memorandum outlines the development and use of innovative regulatory testing spaces ("Sandbox") for the implementation and testing of new technological solutions in the energy sector.

During the meeting, the challenges faced by key organizations in the energy sector were addressed, including SA "RED Nord," SA "FEE-Nord," the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED), the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), SA "CET-Nord," and SA "Termoelectrica." Discussions focused on identifying technological solutions to optimize costs, improve operational efficiency, and reduce network losses, with a particular focus on digitalization and the integration of renewable energy sources into the national energy system.

State Secretary Cristina Pereteatcu highlighted the importance of adopting cutting-edge technologies to modernize the energy infrastructure.

"To address the current challenges in the energy sector, we need to adopt modern technologies that support the transition to a cleaner energy system. Digitalization is an essential component, and a reliable distribution infrastructure is not only the backbone of the modern economy but also the key to transitioning to a sustainable and resilient energy system," stated the State Secretary.

Moldova has become the first country in Central and Eastern Europe to introduce a regulatory sandbox framework to stimulate innovation in the sector. The mechanism became operational after the Government approved the regulations for the operation of innovative energy testing spaces on February 12, 2025.
