The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Moldova has approved the establishment of the Preliminary Investigation Commission for declaring the national public utility of the construction works for the 400 kV Strășeni – Gutinaș overhead power line (OHL) and the modernization of the 330 kV Strășeni electrical substation.
The Strășeni–Gutinaș power line project is an important component of the National Energy Security Strengthening Plan, representing a strategic priority for increasing energy independence, reducing network losses, and improving the reliability of the electricity sector.
The purpose of the inter-institutional commission is to initiate and conduct the necessary preliminary investigation for declaring the national public utility of this major investment. The commission will include representatives of the relevant ministries, institutions, and local public authorities from the 25 localities along the proposed route of the overhead power line.
The route of the 400 kV line, based on a preliminary project sketch, will cross the districts of Strășeni, Călărași, Nisporeni, and Hîncești. The main objective is to ensure a reliable electricity supply, thereby supporting sustainable economic development and regional interconnectivity.
It should be noted that, following the approval of the Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova by the Council of Europe, the project was included in the European investment program, providing a real opportunity to access financing in partnership with international financial institutions.
The Ministry of Energy will serve as the secretariat of the commission and oversee the implementation process of the decision, thus ensuring efficient and transparent management of this stage in the development of the national energy infrastructure.
